cocktail bar marrickville

In 2021, Rice Pantry’s Cecilia Wang and Jacqueline Tran joined the ranks of Smidmore Street’s buzzing restaurant scene with the launch of their highly anticipated new Diner & Cocktail Bar. The venue is a big part of Marrickville’s new Metro Dining Precinct.

The cocktail menu is a veritable tasting plate of both Australian and Asian flavours. Signature favourites include: No Shrubs, made with a mix of Bacardi Carta Blanca, cucumber, lime and lemongrass, Calamansi shrub, as well as the Lychee Umeshu, made with Rice Pantry’s housemade umeshu - a Japanese liqueur made by steeping ume plums in shōchū and sugar - mixed with lychee and jasmine tea. A wide range of local and international wine including skin contact wine and Asian beers will also be available. Rice Pantry has also engaged with local breweries and distilleries including: Willie The Boatman and Otter Craft Distillery.

Expect terracotta tones, warm timbers and handmade tiles. With a choice of alfresco, laneway and indoor seating, the space can hold up to 80 people comfortably. At night, the restaurant transforms into a buzzing cocktail bar and diner, with outdoor furniture spilling out onto the laneway, in an area decorated with mural street art created by Charlie Nivison (Silly Pear), to add to the authenticity of the Marrickville experience.
